cryoctl complete reference

All 11 commands with at least one real invocation example. cryoctl talks to the daemon over /run/cryo.sock — no root needed once your user is in the cryo group.

cryoctl status

One-shot snapshot of the daemon state — profile, temps and session peaks, fan RPM + boost, dGPU load/power/clock, VRAM with a per-process breakdown, power source and turbo

Options

--json — print the raw telemetry frame instead of the summary

cryoctl watch

Live view of the 1 Hz telemetry stream — subscribes over the socket and re-renders until Ctrl-C

Options

--log FILE.csv — also append every frame as a CSV row (time, profile, temps, dGPU load/power/clock, VRAM, gaming/guard flags, fan RPMs, top VRAM process) for long sessions

cryoctl profile <name>

Switch power mode: cool, quiet, balanced, performance, gmode, or custom. Manual picks stick until the next auto-rule event

cryoctl gmode

Toggle G-Mode — the same maximum-cooling profile the dedicated G-key and game detection trigger

cryoctl boost <cpu|gpu> <0-100>

Set a fan group's boost directly (percent). Thermal Guard still outranks manual boosts if a trip threshold is crossed

cryoctl turbo <on|off>

Toggle CPU Turbo via intel_pstate/no_turbo

cryoctl light <effect> [RRGGBB]

Set a keyboard lighting effect: quantum, static, breathe, spectrum, rainbow, wave, backforth, or off. Color-based effects take an optional hex color

cryoctl brightness <0-100>

Set keyboard backlight brightness (percent)

cryoctl config

Print the effective daemon configuration — your /etc/cryo/config.json overrides deep-merged over the shipped defaults — plus the overrides on their own

cryoctl reapply

Re-assert lighting, the platform profile and NVML after the hardware came back changed — cryod-resume.service runs this after suspend and hibernate, and it is safe to run by hand

cryoctl doctor

Hardware/driver compatibility report — model, driver, fans, profile choices, power supply, turbo control, lighting controller, NVML, and the daemon's probed capabilities. Works without root and without the daemon; formatted for pasting into a GitHub model report
